Creating African Batik Wax and Adire Tie and Dye Prints as home décor
My Journey
My business idea started all the way back in Nigeria when I went on holiday to visit my family. I came across an African fabric placemat at a friend’s place and became quite fascinated. Because I have always encountered the beauty of African fabric in fashion, especially in relation to the traditional African attire and had never seen it being used in other forms like interiors or products. I was intrigued to take this concept further and see what else can be developed. I have always been fascinated in the variety of African fabrics, particularly the unique designs and colours. But my passions are associated with the processes of manufacturing techniques of the fabrics and the rich history and culture that is the bedrock of the fabrics.
Ethical Values
Our aim as business is to source the sustainable African fabrics that are kind to the environment and that’s why we use cotton, linen and hemp fabrics. In terms of how these fabrics are made, the majority of the fabric are traditionally handmade from local villages. We only choose robust and sturdy fabrics like cotton and linens; not only are we interested in how our fabrics look and feel but also how they are made and their impact on the environment as a whole. We source organic fabrics. We believe in good quality for a fair price. We believe sustainability fabrics as well as sustainable products.
